During his two-day visit to Assam, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will introduce important development projects on Sunday. The visit involves the launch of new Amrit Bharat Express trains to improve regional connectivity in the Northeast and the Bhoomi Pujan of the Kaziranga Elevated Corridor project.
PM Modi expressed his excitement at visiting Kaliabor, Assam, for the Bhoomi Pujan of significant development projects, like as the 35-kilometer elevated highway across Kaziranga, in a post on X.
He stated that the new Amrit Bharat trains will enhance connectivity for Assamese citizens and that the initiative would help protect wildlife, particularly during the monsoon season.
The Bhoomi Pujan for the Kaziranga Elevated Corridor Project the four-laning of the Kaliabor–Numaligarh portion of NH-715, valued at more than Rs 6,950 crore will be performed by the Prime Minister at approximately 11 AM.
Additionally, he will inaugurate two brand-new Amrit Bharat Express trains in the Nagaon district's Kaliabor. An eco-friendly national highway project is the 86-kilometer Kaziranga Elevated Corridor.
It consists of a 21-kilometer bypass portion, a 30-kilometer enlargement of the current NH-715 from two to four lanes, and a 35-kilometer elevated wildlife corridor that passes through Kaziranga National Park.
The project intends to safeguard the park's abundant biodiversity while enhancing regional connections. It will greatly improve access to Upper Assam, including Dibrugarh and Tinsukia, by passing through the districts of Nagaon, Karbi Anglong, and Golaghat.
In addition to ensuring unhindered animal migration, the elevated wildlife corridor will lessen confrontation between humans and wildlife.
Additionally, the project is anticipated to support growing passenger and freight traffic, improve road safety, and lower travel times and accident rates.
As part of the project, bypasses will be built at Jakhalabandha and Bokakhat to increase urban mobility, reduce traffic in towns, and improve the quality of life for locals.
PM Modi will also introduce two new Amrit Bharat Express trains during the event:
- Dibrugarh–Lucknow Amrit Bharat Express
- Kamakhya–Rohtak Amrit Bharat Express
By improving train connectivity between northern and northeastern India, these services will make travel safer and more convenient.
