PM Modi criticizes Congress for aiding infiltrators for votes in Assam

During his visit to election bound Assam, Prime Minister Narendra Modi harshly denounced the Congress for what he called years of disregard, instability, and misguided goals in the state and the Northeast.

He accused the party of preventing the acknowledgment of Assamese culture and icons, including opposition to honoring Bhupen Hazarika, and of favouring infiltrators over Assamese citizens.

According to Modi, the BJP's "double-engine government" is now reversing such policies and bringing stability and progress back.

He commended the Himanta Biswa Sarma administration for reclaiming land that had been seized from Assamese citizens and giving it back to its legitimate owners.

The Prime Minister highlighted the government's emphasis on culture, identity, and development while speaking at Bagurumba Dwhou 2026, a sizable cultural festival honoring the heritage and customs of the Bodo community hosted in Sarusajai Stadium in Guwahati.
